Brussels has loads of history. In the historical center you'll encounter stone witnesses from the Middle Ages up till now. Think of the world famous Grand Place, with its stunning city hall flanked by ornate guildhalls, or of the gothic Cathedral that took 3 centuries to complete. In Brussels' pedestrianized area, you'll find centuries-old houses, today occupied by highly contemporary chocolate and designer shops and by a multitude of cosy cafés and restaurants.
If you like, there will be ample opportunities to sample local specialties like waffles, handmade chocolates, Belgian fries or one of Belgium's famous brews.
This walking tour covers the historic center of Brussels. It includes the classic sights and monuments, including Manneken Pis, the Grand Place, St-Hubert Galleries, the Cathedral, the Royal Square, The Sablon. This was the second tour we had with Vera. Her knowledge of both Brugge and Brussels exceeded our expectations and she provided additional explanation when asked. She also provided other practical information and suggestions about train schedules, restaurants, local specialties and what things that may not be worth the effort. Vera made our visit memorable.
