The Venice of the North, that's how Bruges is called. With its many canals and medieval beauty, it's easy to see why Bruges is Belgium's most popular tourist destination. Its beauty didn't escape the attention of UNESCO either. The entire historical center was put on the World Heritage List in 2000.
The structure of this rich medieval merchant town has been preserved through the centuries. Its romantic canals are lined with stepped gables and walking along the cobbled alleys takes you back to medieval times.
Bruges is also a gastronomic destination and especially chocolate lovers are well served by its dozens of chocolate shops. Moreover the city hosts two of Belgium's three 3-star rated Michelin restaurants and a home brewery where you can taste some of these famous Belgian brews.
This walking tour covers the historic center of Bruges. It includes the classic sights and monuments, including the Canals, Beguinage, Main Market Square, Burg Square, Church of Our Lady, St John's Hospital, Minnewater (lake of love), Belfry Tower, etc. A 30-minute canal cruise is optional.
Next to that you will discover some hidden corners and you will be able to experience local tastes and culture.
