The best of the great borough of Brooklyn, where it's all happening today with a private guide
There's no better way to see the beautiful neighborhoods of Brooklyn than by bike. We start in Park Slope and tour this beautiful neighborhood, one of New York's best, and it's splendid neighbor Prospect Park. Hear the story of The Battle of Brooklyn, which began here. We'll ride to the Gowanus area, long industrialized and now a reborn quarter, on the way to Carroll Gardens, another landmark brownstone neighborhood. We'll take lunch on Smith St, which has many food choices. We ride on to Brooklyn Heights, with it's wonderful townhouses, carriage houses and spectacular views of Manhattan. Then to the Brooklyn Bridge Park to hear the story of the great bridge. Next we view Dumbo, in the shadows of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, on our way towards Fort Greene, past Prospect Heights, on our way back to Park Slope. This tour gives you a superb orientation and colorful history of some of the city's most vibrant, handsome, and desirable places to live. It requires only relaxed pedaling at a civilized pace.
We will cycle through these neighborhoods in the following order:
Park Slope/Prospect Park
