Traditional walking tour for first-time visitors
Bologna, the chief town of Emilia-Romagna district, is famous worldwide for its art, culture and history heritage.
Home to the first university in Europe, founded in 1088, and place of birth and/or home to a great number of world-known artists, writers, musicians, scientists etc, it is also renowned for its food tradition (let alone thinking about the bolognese sauce, known and used all over the world).
This walking tour, specifically designed for first-time visitors, will show you the reason why Bologna is so popular all over the world.
Pick up at your hotel or any monument within the old set of walls.
We will explore Piazza Maggiore and its surroundings (City Hall, King Enzo's Palace Neptune's Fountain and square, Sala Borsa Public Library, Archiginnasio and the Basilica of Saint Petronio). Here we will visit S. Petronio Church, the Salaborsa and the Archiginnasio.
We will reach the Two Leaning Towers, the symbol of Bologna, and then walk down to S. Steven Square, with its porticos, palaces and the church complex.
The tour will finish in S. Steven Square/Isolani Court or in The Quadrilatero market.
The sightseeing order may vary according to the tour's starting point.
At the end of the tour, we can relax together with an aperitif in some of the best bars/cafés' downtown.

Meeting location: Outside BOLOGNA WELCOME (IAT - Tourist information point)- Piazza Maggiore 1/e. The tourist office is in front of the Saint Petronio Church.
End location: Two Towers, Piazza di Porta Ravegnana 1.
