Traditional walking tour for first-time visitors
Bologna, the chief town of Emilia-Romagna district, is famous worldwide for its art, culture and history heritage.
Home to the first university in Europe, founded in 1088, and place of birth and/or home to a great number of world-known artists, writers, musicians, scientists etc, it is also renowned for its food tradition (let alone thinking about the bolognese sauce, known and used all over the world).
This walking tour, specifically designed for first-time visitors, will show you the reason why Bologna is so popular all over the world.
We will meet in Piazza Maggiore and get to know its main highlights:
The City Hall and Sala Borsa public library, the Neptune's Fountain, Re Enzo's Palace, Saint Petronio Church and the Archiginnasio library, where the University of Bologna was founded in 1088.
We will make our way down to Saint Steven square and Saint Steven (also known as The Seven Churches), then walk our way back to Bologna's Two Towers, Asinelli and Garisenda, where the tour ends.
Visits to monuments and churches will change according to opening times of the day the tour will take place.
