Wednesday saw ToursByLocals staff hobnobbing with fellow industry staff at Tourism Vancouver's Annual Open House in Coal Harbour. While we're headquartered in Vancouver, we spend so much time focussing on our international guides that we sometimes neglect our local tourism scene! The Open House provides us with a great chance to reconnect with our tourism friends here in town.
Last night, our Director of Communications was invited to speak at a Travel Massive industry event. Travel Massive is a global community of travel industry insiders, leaders, and innovators, with chapters all over the world. This was our first time attending a chapter event, and it provided a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the travel media, business leaders and marketing minds. We raffled off a $300 gift certificate at the end of the evening, and are excited that we're introducing another "TBL first timer" to our guides.
And the biggest events are yet to come! Next week is the much anticipated Skift Global Travel Forum, billed as "the first conference focused on top strategists, technologists, and marketers in travel, the people creating the future of travel in 2015 and beyond." Taking place in Brooklyn, NY, the conference promises fantastic networking opportunities, along with the chance to draw inspiration from some of the brightest minds in travel.
And finally, PhocusWright. This giant conference is the place to go to learn all about "the next big idea." Company President Paul Melhus will be attending the 4-day travel event in Fort Lauderdale for the third year in a row.
We love exchanging ideas with other industry people who share our passion for unique travel experiences. It energizes us for the year ahead - a year that we're predicting will continue to break past records at ToursByLocals.
