Today our resident expert, Cabo San Lucas guide Marco, writes about five activities you should not miss while visiting this gorgeous part of Mexico. A picture says a thousand words…make sure to click on the accompanying images at the top of the article!
Marco's Top 5 Things to do and see in Los Cabos:
1 - Visit the Arch
Also know as Lands End, this is where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez framed by the spectacular rock formation we call the Arch. Beautiful golden sandy beaches, home to a small sea lion colony and an abundance of colorful fish. You haven´t really visited Cabo if you haven´t seen the Arch!
2 – Swim in the Natural Pools at Fox Canyon
These beautiful fresh waterfalls and swimming holes are accessed via a short stroll in the Baja outback where you can see the real Baja and the varied flora and fauna that calls it home.
3 – Day Trip to Todos Santos
Great stop for shopping and getting the feel for a small Mexican town. The surrounding areas of Todos Santos make for an interesting visit also with estuaries, beautiful sandy beaches and gorgeous look-out points. (And, urban legend or not, you want to get a photo of yourself in front of the Hotel California to make all your friends jealous.)
4 – Visit the Art Gallery District in San Jose del Cabo
The historic streets of San Jose del Cabo are home to a series of Art Galleries each with its own uniqueness, laid out within a few blocks of each other. Exploring the galleries is a great way to see the town and enjoy a stroll while feasting your eyes on the colourful offerings of the local, national and international artists that call Los Cabos home.
5 – Snorkel at Cabo Pulmo
Located just 60kms from the Los Cabos tourist centre, this natural Aquarium is surrounded by undeveloped desert and a stunning mountain range. The pristine beaches of Cabo Pulmo Park give way to a shallow bay that cradles one of three living reefs (the only hard coral reef) in North America. It´s here you will find the best snorkeling in Los Cabos. Don’t miss it!
Thank you, Marco, for sharing these tips with our readers. If I didn’t feel the chill of January in BC, I do now! Those sunny beaches are calling… For anyone headed to Los Cabos in 2012, consider getting in touch with Marco and seeing the region with someone who knows and loves it.
