It's Official: We've Turned 10!

(back to blog)

We've officially made it to 2-digits! Yesterday ToursByLocals turned ten years old, and our offices around the world each celebrated in their own unique style.

We kicked off the anniversary with a special announcement in Vancouver. At the start of the month we asked our guides all over the world to submit a short video telling us what ToursByLocals means to them. We randomly selected a winner to receive a trip for two to Vancouver, BC! The winner was long-time ToursByLocals guide Aaron in Lima, Peru! We're all excited to meet him when he takes his trip to Canada in 2019.

Once the work day was done, our four offices each began their own celebrations.

Vancouver hit the water on a dinner cruise around Burrard Inlet and English Bay. There was good food and drink, a short speech by founder Paul Melhus, a game of ToursByLocals trivia, and the unveiling of a ten year anniversary video.

Glasgow went out for dinner and drinks at a lovely local resto-bar, where the staff were served signature cocktails and the entry space was decorate with ToursByLocals signs, fall leaves and streamers. Such a nice touch!

Kuala Lumpur went on a team-building expedition to a nearby "Escape Room"...hopefully followed by a raucous dinner out. We're not sure yet if they escaped...the KL office Skype has been awfully quiet today...

Finally, Buenos Aires, our party-loving office in the south, rented an event space where they could decorate to their heart's content, have fun in a photo booth, play a game of ToursByLocals trivia, and dine and dance until late.

The whole company has enjoyed celebrating this milestone in ToursByLocals' journey from a 2-person start-up to a booming business employing 100 staff in 4 offices around the world. We can't wait to see what the coming years have in store, and have no doubt there will be much more to celebrate as we continue to connect travellers with the world's most incredible local guides.
