Voroshilov battery, Grand Ducal Battery and Fort №7
Vladivostok fortress was considered to be the strongest coastal fortress in the world in the first decade of 20th century. From the 1880s to 1917, about 100 millions golden coins was spent for its building. Nowadays complex consist of 122 constructions: forts, batteries, so on. Defensive constructions are located in the area more than the area of modern city buildings.
This 4-hours tour consists of three excursions to three different military object: Voroshilov coastal battery (can be changed to Novosilthevskaya battery in case if it closed), neglected Grand Ducal battery and Fort №7.
During the way to the first point of this tour - Voroshilov's coastal battery you'll hear about history and modernity of Russky island. You get to know reasons of appearance of Vladivostok's Fortress and coastal defence, and why Vladivostok was founded just at that spot.
You'll pass through outer part of Voroshilov's battery between two its turrets, see guns of 1914 year inside the turrets and also take the stairs down to the underground premises.
The next point - Grand Ducal Battery. There you'll walk with lamp along the underground gallery and see artillery patio for 10-inch Russian gun. From this place you also can enjoy by fascinating sea view to the Peter the Great Bay.
Then we will drive to the mainland part of Vladivostok to visit Fort №7. There you'll walk along the 1. 5 km undeground net of tunnels of Fort, see huge undeground premices and artesian well reservoir.
