Half day by car, half day walking. I'll do all reservations, I'll drive and I'll lead you

Rome is like red wine: you open the bottle and then you have to smell the different nuances of its grapes, give a little sip, then a bigger one to enjoy it to the end. Thousands and thousands of years of dominance over most of the known world: how was it possible? Of course the geographic position was fundamental. Howeher, neither geography nor the military power cannot be the only factors. There could not have been so much respect without the deep sense of Sacrality that Rome inspired: the Romans, and the non-Romans as well, deemed that Rome had been founded because of the will of the main pagan Gods, that's why from the Gaul invasion of 390 BC, they remained outside the city walls. The so called Barbarians attacked and sacked Rome but still they maintained a sense of respect for what meanwhile became the center of Christianity. In the following centuries most of the city was abandoned, and, like a sleeping beauty, little by little layers of dust covered everything. Let's discover it together

Itinerary

Board your cruise free shuttle bus. At the end of the drive (Cruises Shuttles Terminal) just exit and go left: here is Europcar rent a car office (you'll see a green sign on the wall): I'll be there with our car. Please know they open at 08:30 am. When in Rome we are going to drive by the Old Appian Road, the Baths of Caracalla, the Aurelian Wall, the Circus Maximus, the Palatine and Aventine Hills, the Colosseum (outside). By the area of the Vatican we are going to park the car and start walking. Our walk will reach the Roman Forum, the Capitol Hill, the Theatre of Marcellus, the Tiberine Island, the Mouth of Truth, the Temples of Portunus and of Hercules, Piazza Venezia (Victor Emanuel- Unknown Soldier Memorials and Mussolini's balcony) the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon (inside), Piazza Navona and then back to area of the Vatican. If required we can plan the visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Skiptheline tickets available but not included.

A Recent Review of this tour

**Fabulous tour - Sergio & driver, Simon, were awesome - we could not have asked for more! One of the best tours of our vacation! Simon met us as we got off our cruise ship, we picked up Sergio and spent the day touring Rome before they dropped us off at our hotel. Sergio is very knowledgeable and interesting and I would very highly recommend him. Simon knows how to navigate the streets of Rome and find a parking place near any venue - what a talent! He even took us to his girlfriend's gelato shop!**
