The perfect private tour for first-time visitors

Enjoy your first-time tour in Venice, getting to know its fascinating history and its most famous monuments.
Come with an experienced guide to discover the maze of side streets of this ancient and charming city, you'll have an in-depth insight into the political history of Venice and an understanding of the incredible longevity of La Serenissima - The Most Serene Republic of Venice, and sightsee its iconic monuments: the Basilica of Saint Mark where the Apostle Mark's body has been kept for a thousand years, and the Doge's Palace where we can admire masterpieces of Venetian painting and understand all secrets of the most ancient republic in the world. Climb on the Rialto bridge to have a glance at the Gran Canal, with its elegant and precious aristocratic palaces.

Itinerary

We start with the magnificent view from St. Mark's Square: the Doge's palace, the Library, and the islands in front of St Mark.
We'll enter then the Doge's Palace, a wonderful core of history and art: having been the seat of the local Government for many centuries, it was decorated by the main Venetian artists such as Titian, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese.
We'll see the Armoury, the state's rooms and the dark prisons, passing through the famous Bridge of Sighs.
We'll visit then the Basilica of Saint Mark with its amazing medieval mosaics and we'll climb the beautiful terrace to see the bronze horses from close.
The walking tour leads then towards the Rialto bridge, passing by traditional local shops until we'll overlook the Grand Canal with its stunning elegant palaces.

* The itinerary may be led also in the opposite direction, starting from Rialto and ending in St. Mark.

IMPORTANT: A dress code is required to enter St Mark: No shorts or sleeveless tops, knees and shoulders must be covered (for men-women).

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: St. Mark's Square under the big column with the lion on top.

End location: If the tour starts from St. Mark: end at Rialto Bridge

If the tour starts from Rialto: end in St. Mark's Square.

Duration: 3 hours 30 min.

During the high season (May to September) Venice may be crowded and it may take longer to enter the monuments.
Due to recent security measures, some queues could be formed at the entrance to the Palazzo Ducale and the Basilica, also for with priority entry ticket holders.
The tour takes place also in case of rain. In case of an exceptionally high tide, this itinerary may be impossible to do, as St. Mark is subject to flooding.
