Discover Basel City
The city of Basel, Switzerland is situated on the Rhine River and is filled with over 2, 000 years of history. A crossroads for France, Germany and Switzerland, it is often referred to as the Golden Gate of Switzerland. This city that at one time was the home of Europe's biggest paper and silk industry, and today is an international chemical research center is also known globally for fairs such as Art Basel and Basel World. Yes, Basel is an art city with a great location. But it is even more, it is a city that has over 40 museums and is the oldest University town in Switzerland. I invite you to discover Basel with me and visit its well preserved old town, containing a mix of 15th century buildings and modern Swiss architecture. Along the way, some of the sites we will see are the Tinguely Fountain, the Elisabethenkirche, Bankverein, Münster Cathedral, Münsterplatz, Rittergasse, Freiestrasse, Mittlere Rheinbrücke, and the Blue and White House. We will also cross the Rhine River (ferry schedule permitting).

Cynthia was a perfect tour guide. She grew up in the US and is raising a family in Basel and as a former history teacher was able to show us the city with it's important historical buildings and events as well as talk to us about the differences in daily life. She accommodated our desire to start the tour an hour later so we could enter the churches after Sunday service and adapted her tour to take into consideration some walking restrictions. I would highly recommend her!! Thank you Cynthia.
