Tropical flowers and a tragical town
This tour takes you to admire the prettiest garden of Martinique, where over 3000 species of tropical plants and flowers await for you! The highlight of the garden is a walk on suspended bridges in the mahogany trees, from where you'll have spectacular views.
The second part of the tour leads you through the rainforest, at the feet of the Carbet - mountains, to arrive in Saint-Pierre, Martinique's old capital completely destroyed in an eruption in 1902. We will visit the volcanological museum and the ruins of the old theater.
Leaving from Fort-de-france, our first stop is the Balata church, from where you'll have a nice view on the bay of Fort-de-France and can visit the church.
After we drive to the beautiful Balata gardens, where we'll have about 1 hour of visit.
Then after a drive through the lush rainforest, we visit the historical town of St. Pierre and the volcanological museum as well as the ruins of the theater. Also a short stop at the fruit market and the old stock market.
We head back to Fort-de-France through the Caribbean coast passing quaint fishing villages like Carbet and Bellefontaine.
