Unique sneak peek behind the scenes of an area in 'transition' with a private guide
The Red Light district is changing fast due to project 1012. Project 1012 aims to close down half of the window brothels and one third of the 76 coffeeshops.
Amsterdam's city council created Project 1012 to regenerate The Red Light district, an area previously known for its window brothels and coffeeshops.
During this informative tour of 2. 5 hours I will take you around the Red Light District and explain you all the pro's and con's of this project.
My wife and I were some of the first new entrepeneurs that were allowed to reshape a former window brothel. During the tour we visit our former window brothel in a live prostitution alley. Here you will get a short presentation, often supported by my wife (founder of a Red Light entrepreneurs association).
This tour will ofcourse also cover the history of the Red Light district and will include visits to new and old locals/businesses in the area.
Definitely not a boring tour: hear the story behind the story, get to know Amsterdam like never before.
My usual start location is Damrak 247, if your hotel is located within the old city center (1012 zip code) I can meet you in the lobby of your hotel.
During this tour we will walk within an area of roughly 1 km2 where I will show you all of Amsterdam's old harbour: the Red Light District.
During the tour we can stop for a drink in a modern or classical tasting room (drinks not incl).
I will introduce you to old and new businesses, and will tell you everything about the history of the area.
We will visit my store in the narrowest alley of Amsterdam, where we take some time to sit down and you can ask everything you'd like to know.
I will introduce you to other 'pioneers' in the Red Light District who started new types of businesses in former window brohels and peepshows.
