History and a breathtaking landscape in South Italy
A breathtaking landscape. A piece of paradise where the grey of the mountain's limestone and the green of the vegetation meet the blue of the Mediterranean. Little villages by the sea. That and much more is the Amalfi Coast. All the area has been added by the Unesco to the list of the World Heritage Sites as a cultural landscape. You can experience beauty and history in every corner of the fantastic Amalfi Coast road - carved in the side of the mountain and overlooking the sea - and in all the villages.
The most popular town of the Amalfi Coast is Positano, a coloured, scenic and exclusive sea village, the best place for shopping and eating seafood in Amalfi Coast.
Positano is just one hour drive away from Pompeii, the most important archeological site in the world. An entire city completely preserved as it was in AD 79 when a tremendous eruption of the volcano Mt. Vesuvius buried it under a 25 feet deep layer of ash and lapilli.
Amalfi Coast and Pompeii are the best you can see in a day in South Italy.
We meet at the harbour where your ship moors (Naples, Salerno, Sorrento or Amalfi).
We drive to Positano and on the way, we stop several times in the most scenic points to let you enjoy the view and take pictures.
We get off the car in downtown Positano for a short walking tour to let me give you all the suggestions you need to make enjoyable your free time in that village.
After Positano we head to Pompeii (you can decide to have lunch to downtown Positano or on the way to Pompeii) to visit the archeological area. We go to see public buildings (theatres, temples, baths, etc. ), private houses and shops and the city centre. I'll explain what exactly happened in AD 79, how the city was rediscovered and above all how was the life of the citizens of Pompeii 2000 years ago.
At the end of our tour in the ruins of Pompeii, we drive back to the harbour for the drop-off.
