Combining food tastings with history and local culture
Discover Alba as foodies do. Walking tour through the old town center combining historical sights with five stops in traditional shops, food carts and produce market (depending on availability) sampling some of the best local delicacies: different kinds of cheese, artisan breadsticks, gourmet products prepared with truffles, hazelnut and chocolate pastries, wine, one traditional "antipasto". As you enjoy these tastings I will tell you the story behind each recipe, interacting with the food crafters and other locals that we will meet. Medieval towers, Gothic and Baroque churches, Roman ruins will be admired along the way providing a complete overview of Alba.
Please note: food allergies and dietary restrictions MUST be communicated at time of booking. Best days for this tour are Thursday and Saturday morning (because the market is running). Avoid Mondays. Tastings can change according to shops availability.

Most of the shops in Alba closes between 1pm and 3.30pm for lunch time. Some shops might be closed on Sundays especially in off season. Let me know when you would like to come and I will make sure to find at least 3 shops open for you. Otherwise I will suggest a different time/day to do the tour.
This is a walking tour. Expect to walk about 1 mile. Alba is mostly flat and there are only few steps along the way and/or to enter shops and historical buildings. Transportation to/from meeting place is not included.

Marco was great. His insights into Piedmont culture as well as the foodstuffs that were available to the residents of the area were most interesting. The purveyors he chose all demonstrated the different aspects of traditional Piedmontese cooking. I highly recommend him.
