Peaceful boat ride and spiritual Shinto shrine tour
If you'd like to spend a peaceful day in a very Japanese way, this tour is the perfect for you.
Yanagawa city is located 70 kilometer south of Fukuoka city. Fifty-minute local train ride takes you to the beautiful and peaceful old castle town.
The main attraction of this city is one-hour boat ride. The boat slowly goes through the moat and the boatman explains popular sightseeing spots on the way while skillfully rowing the boat.
Steamed eels seasoned with soy-sauce is a must-eat.
Dazaifu Japanese Shinto shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the God of Learning. This shrine is especially popular among students.
On the both sides of the approach to the shrine are there many souvenir shops providing very interesting Japanese items such as sword-like umbrellas, folding fans, green-tea flavored sweets and customized chopsticks. So you are sure to find a perfect souvenir you can keep for memory.
