Hidden Treasures

Washington D. C. is home to America's most iconic and recognizable monuments, but the nation's capital also hosts a multitude of hidden memorials that can escape the eye of tourist and resident alike.

We will visit unique national memorials, others that tell the stories of our international neighbors, one commemorating our national pastime, and another dedicated to our furry friends.

You will be astounded by Germany's gift to the United States in President Kennedy's honor, telling the stories of early America and of war/peace. The memorial to arson dogs not only tells their story, but that of the sculptor. Off the beaten path, you will see the first Lincoln Memorial. (It's not what you think. )

Please join me as we take this tour honoring unsung heroes and events.

Itinerary

Depending on the number of hours you'd like to tour, the tour may include the following sites:

Kennedy Center outdoor sculptures - American Relief,
War & Peace and Don Quixote

U. S. Capitol area memorials - The American Disabled Veterans for Life, Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism, Ulysses S. Grant, Navy Peace, (Lincoln) Emancipation and Mary McLeod Bethune memorials.

Embassy Row sculptures - Mahadma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill sculptures and the Kalil Gibran Memorial

The Mall area - "Full Count" baseball sculpture and Albert Einstein Memorial

Downtown DC memorials - National Law Enforcement and Fire Dog Memorials

Theodore Roosevelt Island - because of location, this takes additional travel time.

Depending on weather/traffic, during a four hour tour you'd be able to visit approximately 8 different memorials/sculptures.

Note that you may be able to turn this tour into a 6. 5 hour tour. Please message me if you'd like this option.
