Get to know and appreciate both present day and past Washington as conceived by designer Pierre L'Enfant by strolling along Pennsylvania Avenue, the capital's first thoroughfare, to the White House while learning the history of our capital since its inception.
Stroll thru beautiful Lafayette Square and hear some of the tales of its storied past residents; visit the Renwick Gallery, a Smithsonian treasure; pass by Blair House, the President's official guest house; the Old Executive Office Building and St. Johns Church, the president's church; listen to the protestors in front of the White House; continue on 17th streets with it's famous bldgs. to Constitution Ave. to WW2 Memorial and generally experience Washington, past and present.
Start at Lafayette Square strolling past the Andrew Jackson Memorial, James Madison residence, St. Johns Episcopal Church ( President's Church ), Decatur House, past European General Memorials in the park setting, view the White House, Blair House & the Renwick Gallery. We then proceed down 17th St. past the Corcoran Gallery, DAR headquarters & The Organization of American States. And, time permitting, view the Washington Monument & visit the WW2 Memorial.
