A combination of transportation technologies - feet and taxis.
On this tour, we use either a taxi or Uber to do the longer distances and we save our feet for the shorter distances. We walk less but see more!
We meet up in front of St. John's Episcopal Church - Washington's oldest church. We can duck inside for a few minutes if its open. Then we walk across Lafayette Park, past Dolly Madison's house, to Pennsylvania Avenue. In front of us is the White House and to our right is the famous West Wing. From the White House we walk about four blocks past the Treasury building to the splendid old Willard Hotel.
As we exit the hotel we grab a taxi to go up to Capitol Hill. (Taxi would be approx. $12. 00). At Capitol Hill we first visit the Supreme Court building (open M-F till 4:30) and then the wonderful Library of Congress (open M-Sat till 4:30pm). From the Library of Congress we walk downhill to find ourselves in front of the magnificent Capitol building looking up at the terraces where every president since Reagan has taken the oath of office.
We continue walking downhill to catch a taxi (about $15) to our final destination on the National Mall - the Abraham Lincoln and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorials

Great tour! Wish we had more time. We scheduled this at the last minute within 24 hrs and saw a ton in 2 hours! My son was excited to see Ford's theater! Highly recommend.
