An Opportunity to do Two Iconic Walks in a Day
I came upon this tour almost by chance, having been asked by a friend whether or not it was possible to walk up both of Devon and Cornwall's highest points in a single day. Well, I'm glad to say that the answer is "yes", and what a fabulous day out it makes.
It can be done either way round, the Devon walk first then the Cornwall walk, or vice versa. It is a fabulous opportunity to get an insight into both counties in one day, and the views from the high points are beautiful and very photogenic. The drive between the two is just under an hour, giving you the chance to re-charge between the walks, and you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the lovely scenery. I will tell you some local facts, and give you some of the history of the places we see and pass through on the day.
Lunch will be eaten between the walks - maybe you want to sample some local fare (Cornish pasty or Devonshire cream tea?!).
On the day I will take photographs of your group, so you have memories to last for life.
I will collect you between 8. 30am and 9am (or possibly earlier), then we will drive to Cornwall to the town of Camelford. We will stop here if required, before driving out to the starting point of the walk up to Brown Willy. We will then do this beautiful walk, taking photographs as we go, and enjoy the views along the way. At the highest point, on a clear day, both the English Channel and the Bristol Channel, either side of Cornwall, can be seen.
We will then return to the car, and drive to our lunch stop, which can be chosen according to your tastes (pub, restaurant or cafe - there is a good choice which I will gladly advise you upon).
We then progress to Okehampton, from where we drive out to the starting point of the second walk. We follow the track up to High Willhays, and will take photographs to record the feat of climbing to the highest point in Devon, as well as the lovely views.
Depending on time, a cream tea might be a very welcome end to the day, before I drop you back to your accommodation!

This is a mostly outdoor day on exposed moorland, so appropriate clothing and footwear is required depending on the weather.
As your driver guide, I will take you around in my Ford Galaxy people carrier, which can comfortably take 6 adult passengers. It is a 2015 model in very good, clean condition. I have public liability insurance, and all the other licences and insurances as required of me by my local authority. This day involves two walks of about 2 to 3 hours each, over typical moorland terrain, so a reasonable to good level of fitness is required, and appropriate clothing and footwear too.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
20 GBP - Any refreshments, meals, drinks and any other purchases you make on the day. This is a per person cost, and could be higher or lower depending on your tastes and preferences!
