Private Half Day Tour of Downtown Lisbon
So many times called the city of the seven hills, Lisbon is the most charming and luminous European capital! Let me introduce you to the scenic narrow streets of some of the oldest neighborhoods such as Alfama and Castle. Highlight and old guardian of the city, Saint Georges Castle is the perfect spot to better understand the disposition and evolution of Lisbon. Built during the Arab occupation it became the seat of our royalty from the 13th century on and a watch tower for the new capital of Portugal.
Downhill we'll cross the grid that forms the commercial area by walking along the vivid squares and avenues of the town. You will have the chance to admire the daily life of locals along Rossio Square and Augusta Street. Next it's time to reach Chiado district. An elegant, sophisticated district of theaters, bookshops, old-style cafes and art nouveau jewelry shops!
The rooftop cafes will invite you for a breathtaking sunset and you'll be in love with this city forever. . .
We'll meet at the ticket line of the Saint George's Castle (as an official tour guide we skip the lines). After visiting the Castle we'll walk downhill passing Alfama district until we reach the waterfront. Front there we'll proceed towards the downtown area passing to visit the main squares such as the Comercial Square, The Austusta Street or the Rossio Square.
From there continue, this time uphill , towards the fancy neighborhood of Chiado.
The tour will end at Bairro Alto quarter, a great place to have lunch , dinner or just a drink.

Matilde was an excellent guide. Not only a true professional, but also interesting and enjoyable to be with. She was great with the kids, asking them questions and involving them. She was very knowledgeable about all the sites. She was also very organized, as she planned one walk up to the Castle and then smartly down and around pretty much the rest of the way. That is a trick if you know how hilly Lisbon is. She was extraordinarily helpful, and left us at a very good restaurant.
