Detailed WWII historical tour of the Berchtesgaden area

The Berchtesgaden area holds so much historical value with regards to World War II. During the Third Reich the Obersalzberg was the Southern Headquarters for the National Socialist Party with many of the top leaders owning homes here, and many important political decisions made here. This private tour is perfect for those wishing to discover this history. . .

This half day tour covers many of the historically important sites on the Obersalzberg, including the more hidden locations that most tourists never hear about. While there are many tour options that include this area, most will only stop off at the most well known spots. I will also include the secrets hidden on the mountainside which really provide an authentic account of the fascinating history of this area.

In addition, the mountain scenery is extremely beautiful and on a clear day you will be surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps and the valley below.

We would begin with a driving tour taking us up to the Obersalzberg mountainside with detailed historical commentary throughout.

My accreditation from the German Institute for Contemporary History means I'm authorised to provide an in-depth guided tour of the Documentation Centre, followed by the opportunity to explore some of the original bunkers that made up the extensive bunker system below the National Socialist complex on the Obersalzberg.

We would also include a visit on foot into the woods to the lesser known ruins of Hitler's Berghof home, including the opportunity to experience the panoramic views that were once on offer from his very house. We could also incorporate further exploration of the more hidden secret areas (if desired).

My accreditation, along with a passion that has led to years of private research, and meetings with eye witnesses from the period give me a unique insight and extensive knowledge which I am able to use to share the lesser known secrets of the history of this area.

A Recent Review of this tour

Tom, took my son and I on a private guide of the Eagle's nest and Hitler's Berghof. While a bit pricey for just two people it was worth every single penny! His deep extensive knowledge made the visit MUCH more memorable! We both enjoyed the private tour immensely!
