Hiking in the Vienna Woods - the "House Mountains" of Vienna
This private hiking tour is suitable for travelers, who want to get a local experience, enjoy activities in the fresh air and see another very authentic aspect of Vienna.
We will be walking on the slopes of the Vienna Woods and through the vineyards with a beautiful view over the river Danube and Vienna.
Vienna is the only European capital which cultivates wine within its boundaries and the vineyards are part of the city's landscape on the slopes of the Vienna Woods.
We walk first on a rather steep but paved footpath until we reach the top (Leopoldsberg) from where we will have a good view over Vienna and the majestic abbey of Klosterneuburg, a place, connected with the early period of the Austrian duchy. We continue to walk on a comfortable path through the forest to the next hill - Kahlenberg. Then we start descending among the hilly vineyards and end the tour in Grinzing, Vienna's best-known "wine village", dotted with rustic restaurants - "Heuriger", where the wine owners of the region sell their wine.
