Piazza San Marco, the Basilica, a walk to Rialto market
Venice in the past Centuries was a great, independent Country.
Come to visit the heart of the City: starting with an historical introduction in the Saint Mark's Square, we will see the Doge's Palace, that was the seat of the Venetian government until 1797, and the Basilica of St Mark, one of the most important Byzantine architecture in the world, impressive with its gilded mosaics and wonderful marbles.
Following some of the less beaten paths of the City (to see Santa Maria Formosa, Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Marco Polo's House), we will then reach the Rialto food market, to see one of the most lively places in Venice, where you will appreciate how many different kind of fishes the lagoon offers today.
You will learn how Venice was able to become one of the richest countries of Europe, thanks to the spices, gold, precious wares that the Venetian merchants imported from the Eastern Countries, you will see its Beauty, you will understand where to find some of the best shops and restaurants in the City.
From the chosen meeting point, we will go to the Piazza San Marco, where I will explain you the Square and all the monuments around it.
We will enter the Saint Mark's Basilica, where you will admire the wonderful Byzantine mosaics and the beautiful marbles in it.
Then, following some of the less beaten paths, we will walk to the Rialto bridge, and we will cross it to see the open air market on the other side of the Gran Canal.
St. Mark's church is open from Monday to Saturday, 9h45>17h00
On Sunday, 14h00>16h00
Please, be sure to bring something to cover your legs and your shoulders.
The backpacks have to to be check before entering the church.

It is possible to add one hour more (it costs 110€ more, plus the tickets) to visit the interior of the Doge's Palace.
