St Mark's church, Ducal Palace, old prison & Bridge of Sighs
This tour is for those who wish to grasp Venice's main political and artistic achievements.
We'll start the tour visiting St. Mark's church, once a state owned chapel to keep in custody the relics of St. Mark it is a unique building. Built 900 years ago is the only Byzantine building in Western Europe decorated inside with the largest surface of mosaics in the world. In here you'll know about the early days of Venice and what brought to its foundation. And you'll also get a full description of the main art features housed inside.
The visit of the Ducal Palace, previously the combined seat of Venetian gov. t, court of justice and chief of state, will be next. This building so lavishly decorated indoors epitomizes the political and artistic accomplishments of the Venetian Republic from its heydays to the fall. We'll visit inside the State Rooms, and the old prisons including also the iconic bridge of Sighs.
We'll complete the tour with an overall description of other main buildings facing the square.

The Duke's private apartments are not to be seen due to temporary art exhibits hosted inside.
On Sundays + holydays St. Mark's church opens for tours after 2:00pm. Therefore is closed for tours in the morning.
Admissions in the Ducal Palace are full fare and not refundable

NO to short pants, miniksirts, sleeveless shirts, bare shoulders
YES to bermuda pants, knee long skirts, T or Polo shirts, a scarf to cover shoulders.
Backpacks are not permitted inside both in the church and the palaceto be dropped off in deposit.
