Private Tour of Military and Civilian places that evoke Malta's crucial wartime role.
Malta played a pivotal role in the Second World War Mediterranean Theatre of Operations. Located between North Africa and Europe, it was the Allies' only outpost in the Central Mediterranean and proved to be 'A Thorn in the Axis Side'. It withstood over three years of aerial bombardment and suffered hunger, damage and death.
Thankfully, these times are only a distant memory. But they are visible in museums and if you look closely enough, the scars can be seen on buildings till today.
We have this down as a 7 hour tour but if your stay on Malta is a short shore visit, then we can quote for a shorter visit with less stops depending on your time factor
We will drive out to Mdina and see the island spread out below us, and we will make out the strategic targets. Then we drive down to Ta' Qali where a small part of the former RAF base houses the small Aviation Museum. We proceed to Birgu where we visit the underground shelters of The Malta at War Museum. Afterwards, we go to Valletta's National War Museum housed in the historic Fort St Elmo.
There will be time for lunch and a few moments in contemporary Valletta.
