Fantastic Trip To Spiritual Heart of Russia From St Petersburg

The Valaam archipelago in the Ladoga Lake is located in a remote, untouched region of Karelia, north of St Petersburg. Thousands of pilgrims make their way to pray here, in the monastery considered by many a holiest place in Russia. In the 18th century it was monks of the Valaam monastery who brought Christianity to the natives of Alaska (St Herman of Alaska). It is one of the most northern monasteries in the world. Small islands are astonishingly beautiful and full of history, although rarely visited by foreigners.

Journey here, though not easy, will become most memorable part of your stay in Russia.
