Discover why people love this city
How many tourists get a chance to experience Mumbai with a journalist who has been reporting on the city for almost 20 years? If there's one definitive tour of Mumbai that you should do, this is it!
You won't just be seeing the sights but also getting a glimpse of the past and a slice of the present as I pepper my conversation with stories about the people and places that make the city what it is.
I'll be taking you to a lot of diverse and interesting areas of South and Central Mumbai, covering the touristy 'must-dos' as well as some spots that are more off the beaten track, helping you to really get to know the city and its ways.
This tour will give you a detailed insight into Mumbai.
Through the day, you will see the following buildings/places and other, more unique, ones:
The Gateway of India
Street shops on the Colaba Causeway
The Kala Ghoda Heritage Precinct
Rajabai Clock Tower
The Mumbai High Court
The Asiatic Library (Mumbai's old Town Hall)
The Victoria Terminus Railway Station and the BMC building
Haji Ali Dargah
Time and energy permitting, you could see a mall to get an idea of the more modern side of the city.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: At the entrance of the cruise terminal or any South Mumbai hotel or location convenient to you
End location: At the entrance of the cruise terminal or any South Mumbai hotel or location convenient to you
Duration: 8 hours
For groups of 1-4, I use only Toyota Innovas, as they are clean, modern, air-conditioned, with sufficient legroom and space for people of height and girth and good ground clearance to give you a smooth ride.
When it's four tourists, two will have to go to the rear seat, which is slightly less roomy than the bucket seats at the centre.
I also have different options for larger groups, which come at a higher cost.
My guide services for the duration of the tour plus the rentals for an air-conditioned, chauffeur-driven Toyota Innova. I will take care of the driver's meals, tips, parking fees, etc.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
2500 INR - Lunch/dinner should cost you approximately INR 1000 per person and could be less or more depending on where we eat. Shopping can be very variable... from knick knacks that are priced at INR 50 to jewellery or Pashminas for several thousands. Entry to the Gandhi museum is not chargeable but you are invited to make a donation of your choice or buy one of their books. Other museum entrance fees are approximately INR 500 per person.
Expenses for meals, shopping, entrance charges for museums, if any, are extra.

Priya has an unbelievable knowledge of Mumbai, which allowed us to get the most out of our day and is keen to make sure that you get to see the parts of the city that are important to you. We did all the classic sites like The Gateway to India and Ghandis house but we're also able to have high tea at The Taj Mahal Hotel. Priya is very personable and understands that holidays are all about memories. Priya made sure that our day with her was full of those special memories that will stay with us forever.
