Come explore with me on a day trip with a difference to the interior of Brunei
If you want to escape the normal tourist trail and experience the authentic rural life and culture of some of many peoples of Brunei, then this day trip is for you! We'll visit places where old traditions are being kept alive by people from the Dusun, Kedayan, Tutong and Iban indigenous peoples, even though they're mostly living a very modern lifestyle nowadays.
Activities are really dependant on who's around on the day - in the past, I have taken guests foraging for jungle foods, caught freshwater crayfish, learned rattan weaving, seen how ambuyat is made, practised tribal dances, listened to tales of jungle folklore, tasted honey direct from the hive, even seen a wild boar being skinned!
Every tour is different, so please see the Itinerary section for a list of some of the things we can see and do. I love discovering the lesser known parts of Brunei and meeting new people, so I hope you can too and join me on my tour that even the locals from the city enjoy to come on!
As some of our activities depend on the hospitality of locals on the day (especially in more remote areas), it's not possible to guarantee availability of any particular place/people to visit, but generally we'll cover at least SIX of these:
Tamu Pasar Tutong* - where different tribes and jungle foods come to market
Stingless Bee farm - see and taste a unique tasting honey
Sago processing farm - see how Brunei's national dish, Ambuyat is made from edible palm trees
Foraging for wild jungle foods with Dusun tribesman
Cooking Bamboo Chicken and Umbut on an open fire
Tasek Merimbun - the largest blackwater lake in Brunei
Hike to a jungle waterfall
Dusun traditional dancing
Catch freshwater prawns with Kedayan tribesmen in a jungle river
See traditional crafts such as rattan weaving and machete making
* Only available Thursday
** We always have lunch on this day trip!
It's your private tour, so just let me know what you prefer to do and I hope to take you on a day trip to remember : )

I had great fun on this trip also with Irene. I booked a tour with me only as guest and we could thus visit all the places in a relaxed pace. We adjusted the tour more to my interest thus it included the Mud Spa in Sawarak which I really liked. That is such an unusual experience. We also had a very nice lunch with the guys in the eco lodge showcasing traditional food and cooking of the same. Irene is a great guide, very easy going and have great knowledge and attitude. Keep up the good work Irene!
