Bolsena lake-Civita di Bagnoreggio-Orvieto with a private guide!
We will start this private day-tour at Bolsena, a charming town on the shore of the Lago di Bolsena, Europe's largest Vulcan lake. This town, lying on the famous Cassia road leading from Rome to Tuscany, was home to St. Cristina and the miracle of Corpus Domini. From there we will travel to the famous and fascinating "dying town" Civita di Bagnoreggio. This medieval borgo can be reached only by foot over a bridge. The town is slowly disappearing because it is perched on rock that is crumbling and sliding into the surrounding valley. After this unique experienece, we will proceed through beautiful winery landscape (with the possibility to visit a winery on the road) to the jewel of the Tiber valley, Orvieto. The cathedral of Orvieto is a must for all lovers of medieval architecture, sculpture and fresco painting, but let's not forget the town itself, which will embrace you with its simple though stylish charm.
