A private drive from Memphis to Tupelo and back.
On this Tour we will drive from Memphis to Tupelo to visit the birthplace of Elvis Presley. This is a tour of his home that includes his first church he went to as a young boy as well a gift shop where they show a movie about the life of Elvis. Quaint little things such as the Outhouse of the church are also there. You may want to drive around Tupelo discovering some of the other places he knew.
You will hear and read authentic stories from those that knew Elvis when he was a young boy such as how he would go down to a nearby stream to play. Places he knew, pictures of where he bought his first guitar. The lifestyle there is very quiet and slow. You will go back to when he was 5 yrs old, 1940 or 10 years old and feel what he did as a young boy growing up there. You will grasp the richness only this one place has to offer.
*Drive to Tupelo Miss. and see Elvis's Birthplace, his first church & gift shop.
*A drive around Tupelo looking for places Elvis used to go is optional.
*Hwy 78/Interstate 22 are very busy
From downtown Memphis to Tupelo is about 1 and 1/2 hrs depending on traffic. So that is 3 hrs drive time there and back but it's a very pretty country drive. I consider this a 6 hr. tour but could be longer if more time is spent at his birthplace home or eating or driving around Tupelo looking at other sites. Many restaurants are nearby.
Touring Tupelo to see other sites can make the tour longer, but at the same time even more worth it.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I can pick you up from your Hotel or coffee shop. I will be in a Mid-Night Blue 2016 Dodge Caravan.
End location: I can drop you off at your Hotel or if you'd like,I can suggest a nearby restaurant for dinning and a short walk back to your Hotel.
Duration: 12 hours
Traffic as Hwy 78/Interstate 22 is very busy. If you want to see other sites around Tupelo such as Tupelo Hardware, where Elvis bought his first guitar, or Johnnie's Cafe, where Elvis ate, you would feel as if you've gone back in time. Other tourist's have told me that going to Tupelo before Graceland is a must. Everyone knows what he became but not everyone gets to realize how he grew up. Only in Tupelo do you see this.
We will drive to Tupelo in a Mid-night Blue 2016 Dodge Caravan that seats myself and 6 other's comfortably and luggage if necessary. It is very roomy but if you have more in your group, let me know and I can rent a larger van but it's cost would be extra.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
75 USD - This price is about what you would spend on the tour and gifts. It does not include lunch or dinner there.
I will guide you as well as drive you in a 2016 Dodge Caravan that seats 6 passenger's, however it is not wheelchair accessible.
