Trieste is an amazing Italian city with a rich historical and cultural background that played a strong role for the economy of the Hapsburg Empire and later Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
On our walking tour you'll see some beautiful Catholic and Orthodox churches and one of the most beautiful synagogues in Middle Europe, built in a Syrian style. You'll see palaces of remarkable architectural value in Neo-Classical style and Italy's largest square overlooking the sea, Piazza Unità d'Italia.
At the end of walking tour, we'll take some time to enjoy a real Italian cappuccino, as Trieste is known as the homeland of coffee culture.
After discovering the heartbeat of the city, we'll continue just few kilometres away, to the castle of Miramare. Miramare castle was a romantic residence of Maximilian from Hapsburg and his wife Charlotte from Belgium. Surrounded by a wonderful park of 22 hectares with rare botanical species, the castle is a rare example of a noble residence of the mid-seventeenth century.
We'll start our tour on Piazza D'Unita, Italy's largest square facing the Adriatic sea. There are several truly beautiful buildings of architectural maximum value on the square (Town Hall, Government building, Loyd's building, Caffe degli Specchi). We'll continue to Piazza della Borsa dominated by Palazzo della Borsa (the Old Stock Exchange). Other important buildings include Palazzo Tergesteo, Palazzo Dreher (the New Stock Exchange) and the Art Noveu Casa Bartoli.
On our way to San Giusto hill we'll see 1 AD Roman amphitheatre and other remains of that area, San Giusto cathedral and the castle. On Canal Grande banks there are several churches, buildings and squares (Serbian Orthodox church, Ponte Rosso, neoclassical church of St. Anthony Thaumaturge…).
The ride to Miramare Castle should take us 15 min. We are going see the interior of the castle and take a walk in large park and enjoy the views on Adriatic sea.

Danijela was a wonderful guide and company for a day. Her knowledge of history and geography was most impressive. I learned so much with her presentation. She covered everything that was on the itinerary, very timely no rushing,, we completed everything exactly on time. It was especially good for me, as a solo traveler, that she picked me up at my hotel and dropped me off whatever I wanted to be dropped. Danijela is so friendly, I feel like I've met a new friend.
