Experience Traditional Jazz in the French Quarter
New Orleans is known as the birthplace of Jazz. On this tour we visit 3 Jazz clubs, each with its own style and character.
All of the clubs are located inside the historic French Quarter and we often spend about an hour in each venue. The average Jazz Tour is listed at three hours but often takes longer.
All of the clubs serve drinks, some also serve appetizers. All of the clubs offer seating and allow you to stay as long as you like. Jazz comes in many forms and each venue offers a different take on what is called traditional Jazz.
Some Jazz clubs do not serve drinks, do not have seats for everyone, do not have air conditioning and put you out at the end of a set (45 minutes)! We avoid these clubs and stay mainstream within the French Quarter.
Most venues do not start playing music until 8pm (there are exceptions). With that in mind we suggest you have dinner before the tour and start the tour at 8pm. However, if you choose to eat appetizers as we go, we start at 8pm.
We usually spend about a hour in each of three venues before moving to the next one.
Distances between venues are short.
We rarely walk into a venue exactly as a set is starting, but once we have heard enough of a given style Jazz, we move to the next club.
Meeting Point + Tour Duration
Meeting Point Options: Hotel, Address or Intersection
End Point Options: Hotel, Address or Intersection
Duration: 3 hours
While our published time is three hours, many visitors get so wrapped up in the excitement that they lose track of time. The tour rarely ends exactly at three hours. While in New Orleans we suggest you relax, take your time, chew your food and have another drink! So the published duration is just a guideline.
This is a walking tour and in most cases, no vehicle is used, but in case of limited mobility, a distant hotel location and other factors, we may use a vehicle to go to the starting point and return from the ending point.

Estimated Local Cash Needed
30 USD - This estimate is based on how many drinks you may have. This estimate figures 1 drink per venue. None of these venues (normally) impose a cover charge, rather you are asked to buy 1 drink per set (hour). You could spend more if you drink more or order appetizers to enjoy while listening to the music.
