I graduated in Archaeology at the University of Naples (I have a Master Degree with maximum grade), and I have been involved in many digs and other activities on the field, both in Italy and abroad. I've been working as a tour guide in Rome for the last 6 years.
After graduating I decided I would become a tour guide in order to share my knowledge and passion about ancient history with as many people as possible: this is my mission.
My first experience as an archaeologist took place in Cuma, a Greek city close to Naples in the year 2005. The same year I was chosen to be a member of the Archaeological Italian Mission at Tell Barri (Syria) where I held the position of field director until the year 2010.
In the year 2011 I directed the excavation of an important and sophisticated Roman villa (dating between 2nd c. b. C. - 1st c. A. D. ) close to Ostia Antica (near Rome). The results of this work were published in a paper entitled "The excavation of Villa C at Casale Dragoncello".
I have presented my researches in several international study conferences (in Naples, Merida, Rome, Udine) since the year 2006 and last year I took a second Master Degree focused on Illicit Traffic of Cultural Heritage.
As a tour guide, I like planning tours that perfectly match my customers' needs. Pick up at the hotel and transportation to the sight of the visit are always included, as my experience on this field and my passion for this work.
I only provide private tours that will be adapted on your needs and wishes. My narrations are historical and engaging but never boring, and will be adjusted on your interests.
Moreover, I never forget that you are on vacation: a break to take a seat or to have a quick coffee, a free time for photographs from the best view points, are something that I always suggest my customers.
My tours are always kids friendly.
Contact me for any questions you might have. I will be happy to make your trip memorable and unique.
If you need, I'll recommend my favourite restaurants or the best ice creams.

A Recent Review of this guide
Maurizio was awesome. He moved at a pace that was appropriate for the entire family. We had visited the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill years ago so he made sure to show us things we had not seen before. Our highlight was seeing San Clemente church. We should have booked an entire day.
