My degrees in Cultural Anthropology (UCLA 2005) and (Leeds Beckett 2009), give me a deeper insight into the many cultures (and sub-cultures) that thrive here in Southern California.
My passion is finding unique, off-the-beaten-path locations and digging into their background stories. I am a travel author and a recovering stand-up comedian so I *always* endeavor to be entertaining.
Various areas of the city offer glimpses into Jewish, Japanese, Latino, African-American, Armenian, Persian, Ethiopian, Vietnamese, and Chinese heritage, just to name a few of the options. Each of these communities have a unique history, special food treats, wonderful shopping opportunities, and (in some cases) their own museums. In addition to the numerous ethnic communities, Los Angeles also has a set of unique histories, such as the Golden Age of Hollywood, Classic Rock & Roll, and Western movies & TV shows.
Eating is a big part of travel and my tours include special treats (such as visiting one of the many unique ice cream places that have been popping up lately!) and can offer ethnic culinary experiences as well.
I am an English speaker, but have a great deal of experience volunteering at English schools (in Spain, Germany, Hungary, and Poland) plus years of hosting international exchange students, so I know to speak slowly and clearly (but not louder!) in order to be understood by people for whom English is a second (or third or fourth!) language.
In the course of my tours, I have learned to accommodate people with mobility issues. Since I tend to keep the pace leisurely (feeling that is a better way to enjoy the places one visits), my tours are especially suited for older travelers or those who have mobility issues. My car can accommodate a fold-up wheelchair, but it is not equipped for someone who would need a ramp to get in or out. I have in the past rented a van to accommodate someone who used a mobility scooter.
I believe that my background gives me a unique perspective on the wonderful city of Los Angeles. I look forward to sharing my love of Southern California with you! Thank you!

Sheila and I had a great day exploring three Los Angeles cemeteries. She had lots of great info and stories to tell as we walked amongst the infamous and famous dead celebrities. Each cemetery is a marvel of design and peaceful quiet. A delightful day with a fun guide.

I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences.
Also, my car can accommodate up to four medium-sized suitcases in addition to travelers.
