A daytrip to two castles built by the Templar Knights in Portugal - Tomar and Almourol
We will start our day heading to Tomar, the headquarters of the Templar Knights in Portugal. We will visit the remains of their castle and the convent created on the same site, built by the religious order that replaced the Templars.
After the visit to this monument, one of the biggest in Portugal, we will head to the city's pleasant historical center for some free time for lunch. After this we will head to Almourol, a castle built by the Templars in an island in the middle of the Tagus river for defensive purposes. If you prefer to skip the visit to the second castle, we can replace it for a visit to the historical area of Tomar after lunch, including the 14th century Synagogue.
Hotel/Pier - Tomar (Convent of Christ) - Tomar (town's center) - Synagogue OR Almourol Castle - Hotel/Pier
The order can of the visits can change according to starting times and your interest.
