Leo Tolstoy's town estate and apartment of Galina Ulanova
Even if you know nothing about personalities of the greatest Russian writer and the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi, their authentic houses may give you a unique intimate approach to everyday life of Russian intelligent people in different times.
Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy and his big family lived in Khamovniki house from the 1880s, and it was there where he implemented his new philosophy into practice, had his youngest children born and created his latest works.
Galina Sergeevna Ulanova was invited to Moscow in 1944 to dance at the Bolshoi and most of her life she lived in the famous skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment. Visit to her apartment is also a chance to see one of Stalin's "Seven Sisters" towers inside.
