Enjoy two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one Day
Tivoli is a small city a few kilometers from Rome famous because is the only one in the world, with Beijing (China), which can boast two incredible UNESCO world heritage sites: Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este.
Villa Adriana, built by Emperor Hadrian at the beginning of the 2nd century AD, was a sumptuous complex of over 30 buildings, covering an area of more than 100 hectares (about 250 acres), of which most of it has not yet been excavated.
After a lunch break in a typical restaurant (with an amazing location) with a jump of over a thousand years, we will reach Villa d'Este, a gem of the Italian Renaissance, built in the XVI century by Cardinal Ippolito d'Este after the disappointment of not having been elected Pope, that, thanks to its breathtaking gardens, an imposing concentration of fountains, grottoes and water features, became a prototype for European sumptuous estates.
