My name is Constantinos.
Was born and raised in Thessaloniki and the last four years I live permanently in Ano Poli with my family.
From the first moment that I came to this area . . . I loved!
The area of Ano Poli is characterized by beautiful and colorful traditional houses, narrow paved streets, steep hills, the kind residents and . . . its MONUMENTS!
Most of the monuments of this area are registered in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.
The idea became theory and theory became action!
I decided to share my love for this area. To take out it from obscurity and give the ability to visitor of Thessaloniki to discover the history and tradition of "old city" with a walk.

Few words!. . . about Ano Poli area.
Ano Poli today is an area of Thessaloniki that respresents the "old city" and is protected by the government in its effort to maintain its traditional style and many monuments.
Ano Poli features beatiful traditional and colorful houses, narrow stone-paved streets, very nice tavernas with warm atmosphere, cozy cafes (some of they with amazing view in all city) kind inhabitants, and. . . its MONUMENTS! Almost all the monuments of the area are listed among the UNESCO world heritage sites.
The best way to explore the area. . . is on foot! Only in this way can you discover the beauty hiden in every little corner, hear the song of the birds, smell the flowers, and go on a small journey into the past.
Ano Poli is in the northernmost part of the old city and luckily it was not destroyed in the great fire of 1917.
Lastly, it's a pleasant area that you can enjoy and discover on a relaxing walk on a sunny day!
Also, in the context of our walk, we will become acquainted firsthand with some of the professions of the area, which in spite of difficulties are managing to stay alive even today!
A Recent Review of this guide
Great tour guide! Constantinos gave me a local's perspective on a city that is rich in Greek, Turkish, and early Christian history. He helped give me an idea of what it is like to live here, and showed me many, many interesting things. Highly recommended.
The last summer i was the official tour leader for Ano Poli area of Thessaloniki.
I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments.
...BUT we can enjoy a walk inside of them as "friends"!
