Here the 3rd Canadian Division landed at 8. A. M , 15 minutes delayed by the bad weather. The bagpipes gave a simple message to the germans defending the beach: " We are crazy, we are coming and you are going to die!"
The Canadian forces would suffer conditions and causality rates almost identical to what the Americans would suffer on Omaha Beach.
We'll visit Juno center inaugurated on the 7th of june 2003; It is the only Canadian museum in Normandy. Affer the visit we will walk on the beach and see some of the bunkers of the Atlantic wall. Quick lunch in the the fishing port of courseulles closed by
Drive to Bernieres liberated by the and Beny to the Canadian cemetery
To drive back to Caen, we'll use the same route used in 1944 to liberate the city. We'll drive through little villages, taken one by one by the Canadians until they reached Caen only liberated on July 19th. Stop at the abbey d'Ardennes for the visit of the site and Sightseeing tour of Caen before dropping you at your ship

I don't drive when I guide but my husband is the professional driver and we have Mazda car which accomodate 4 passengers and both of us. Or you may hire your own car.

This was an excellent tour and I recommend it to anyone interested in the Canadian contributions to the war. Marianne is a knowledgeable and informative guide. She and her husband made the experience absolutely wonderful. My teenagers have never been more proud to be Canadian!
