"Up and Close to Mother Nature in the Joshua Tree National Park Tour"
Joshua Tree National Monument was created in 1936. After the area became a national monument in 1936, local and regional residents were the primary park visitors. As Southern California grew so did park visitation; Joshua Tree now lies within a three-hour drive of more than 18 million people. Since Joshua Tree was elevated from national monument to national park status in 1994 however, greater numbers of visitors from around the nation and the world come to experience Joshua Tree National Park. There is a rich cultural history in Joshua Tree National Park. The park protects 501 archeological sites, 88 historic structures, 19 cultural landscapes, and houses 123, 253 items in its museum collections. Humans have occupied the area encompassed by Joshua Tree National Park's nearly 800, 000 acres for at least 5, 000 years.

I will take you to a park that includes some of the most interesting geologic displays found in California's deserts. The dominant geologic features of this landscape are hills of bare rock, usually broken up into loose boulders. These hills are popular amongst rock climbing and scrambling enthusiasts. The flatland between these hills is sparsely forested with Joshua trees. Together with the boulder piles and Skull Rock, the trees make the landscape otherworldly. I will then help you customize a tour that best suits you needs.

Jack is a great guide. He has taken care to have a good grasp of the the history geology and flora and fauna of Joshua Tree and the Coachella Valley. He included several unexpected sites including the San Andreas Fault. The park itself is wonderful with the ancient Joshua trees and other indigenous species in a strange and beautiful landscape. He added a useful tour of Palm Springs on our return making the rest of my visit there much fuller and easier with the knowledge he imparted.
