Let's visit a former nazi concentration camp near Prague and remind the tragical history of Lidice village
Take this tour, if you are interested in the Second world war topic. Visiting Terezín and Lidice, I would like to guide you through both cities and tell you some of the human stories hidden within the big historical events we think we know.
First we will visit Terezín. It actually is a vast fortress, built as a military city in 18th Century. We will see how Hitler decided to take advantage on the fortress and use it as a huge jail. The jewish ghetto was also used for propaganda purposes.
Then we will have lunch in a nearby city called Litoměřice.
After the lunch (included) we will continue to Lidice which has a moving history - it was chosen as a target by the nazis and was destroyed June 10, 1942. After the assassination on Reinhard Heydrich, May 27, 1942, the village was razed to the ground on the command of Karl Hermann Frank. 173 men were shot dead, women and most of the children were transported to concentration camps.
