My tours are focused on providing you with an unforgettable experience of this small and wonderful corner of the world.
I have lived and worked in Tasmania for most of my life, and I absolutely love the history, wildlife and beautiful natural environment of Australia's island state. I would be delighted to show you some of Hobart's hidden history, as well as introducing you to our extraordinary animals and helping you to discover places of stunning natural beauty.
I grew up on the slopes of Mt Wellington in Hobart, and have travelled widely overseas, but I always come back home. I have worked as an archaeologist for many years, specialising in Aboriginal and European history, and I look forward to guiding visitors through the many layers of history in and around Hobart, helping you to gain a deeper understanding of the many different stories of this fascinating place.
From years of Aboriginal culture to the unexpected courage of the convicts; from the adventures of the early explorers to the whalers and first farmers, Tasmania has tales and attractions for all.
I can take you to marvel at the many museums around Hobart, to explore Tasmania's convict past, to encounter the extraordinary and endangered Tasmanian devil, or to experience the breathtaking scenery of our National Parks - my tours are friendly, flexible, and fascinating. I look forward to meeting you!
A Recent Review of this guide
Our group of 5 loved Ruth's tour of Hobart -- even a drive by of her driveway to see a little Wallaby. We especially loved seeing MONA and Ruth's guidance through there -- not sure we would have made it without her. It's not for everybody -- but was definitely enjoyed by us. Ruth's style is easy going, flexible, and very knowledgeable.
