My hometown is in Gifu Prefecture, not too far from Takayama. I studied social science in Tokyo, Massachusetts, and in Thailand(graduate school).
I had stayed in Southern Africa as development/humanitarian worker for almost 10 years, before coming back to Japan (takayama) 5 yrs ago.
I love traveling and mountain trekking, visiting new places and meeting local people. After travelling and visiting many places myself, I decided to try something new in my career, hospitality/tourism business.
We are running Thai restaurant and Guest House "THANYAPORN" near Takayama station. My wife "PUY" is Thai and she cooks great Thai food.
Every time I do tour guiding, I discover something new and interesting about my own culture, thanks to the different perspectives given by our guests. I've been enjoying this part very much.
Shirakawago historical village (World Heritage) is the most popular destination in this area, but there are other attractive places in this Central Japan, such as Shinhokata, Gujo, Toyama, Kanazawa, Kamikochi, Matsumoto, Gifu, Alpine-Route(Tateyama), Nagoya, etc.
I am ready to share my experiences and knowledge about these towns and Japan overall.
Hope you will enjoy the charm and wonder of these places you will visit during your stay in Japan !

Junichi showed Nagoya to a group of university art students from the US in a very meaningful way. He is very responsive to the interests of his audience and finds the best possible way to satisfy these interests. Very helpful and well organized, Junichi made our visit to Nagoya enjoyable and efficient.
