One thing that travelling has always meant to me is to meet real people away from the tourist traps. We were so fortunate on this trip to spend time with Turkish people who were nothing but welcoming and generous. We spent a wonderful hour with Nazile in her store in the spice market. She spoke little English but communication was not problem. From entering her store and being hit by the incredible aroma of the spices to drinking her wonderful pomegranate tea... Thank you Oguz for making this happen.

Oguz led us on a tremendous tour. He customized the tour so that we could see the sunset on the Bosphorus! His seeming effortless mastery of history, architecture, culinary and culture helped to bring Instanbul to life. We navigated so much of the city in just a few hours with ease. His quick wit and creativity made it fun as well. I'd recommended him hands down. The next time we are in Istanbul, he will be the first person I contact.

Second tour with Oguz. He was great I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a very knowledgeable personable and organized guide in Turkey
Overall a enjoyable day. Oguz is a super knowledgable guide. He helped us to orientate ourselves and get a feel for the city our first day in Istanbul. He was also helpful as well on providing further advise and details afterwards via whats ap. No hesitation to recommend him.
Oguz is so precious and unique! We were lucky for having him picked among the others. He knows every single corner of the immense Istanbul, is extremely knowledgeable, always on time, smiling, witty, focused... you cannot have a better person around you!!

Tour was outstanding! Oguz our guide picked us up from the A/port. He was pleasant, kind, thoughtful. It was cold in Istanbul, I was without a jacket, he had readily available to lend. We went to eat at a local restaurant, saw the Blue Mosque, rode the street car, ate the best baklava, and had a chance to meet the owner of the restaurant. We walked & drove the streets of Istanbul. Oguz was patient, catering to our every need— stopping for photos wherever. The tour was informational & meaningful.

Oguz is amazing! I had a brief layover on my,way to Serbia and wanted to make the most of my time. Oguz made sure my couple of hours in Istanbul were jam packed of Byzantine history. He truly knows his stuff. I highly reccommend this gentleman s custom tours if you have days or hours in the great city of Istanbul.

Our late afternoon and evening with Oguz was so memorable! He is a real professional with excellent English. As we walked through alleys and the Spice Market, he stopped at merchants along the way that gave us "little bites" of food. Our only regret was that we should have taken his tour on the first day that we arrived in Istanbul so that we could have gone back to places on our own. As it was we took Oguz's tour at the end of our visit. We went into neighborhoods that we wouldn't have dared to visit

Oguz provided a very informative but also highly entertaining tour. We were amazed at how much we covered at a pace we were able to enjoy and experienced Istanbul in a way which we would never have been able to achieve on our own. We never felt we were any other than welcome guests in his beautiful city and felt privileged to be a part of it for a regrettably short time. Can't wait to come back!

This was a very interesting tour that focused on walking through neighborhoods and identifying things that only locals could identify or explain, making it a one of a kind experience that cannot be duplicated through a guidebook. Oguz is enthusiastic and knowledgable and has put together a fascinating look at the everyday life in Istanbul, apart from the landmarks. And the restaurant he recommended was outstanding, and he arranged for the restaurant to pick us up and take us back to the hotel at no cost

Our tour with Oguz was wonderful. He organized a custom tour of shopping, trying local foods and visiting the sites we were interested in seeing. One of the sites we had visited the day before on our own and going back with Oguz we had a completely different experience and understood what we were seeing. Worth every penny!

Oguz provided my wife and I with a wonderful evening walking tour of Istanbul. it was our first evening in the city and he provided a great orientation. We made our way from Taksim Sq. down to the Spice Market, stopping at Galata Tower and exploring many side streets. Oguz provided great walking commentary on the culture and customs and pointed us to several culinary opportunities. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Oguz and highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Oguz is a great storyteller, and he knows many interesting, rarely heard facts about the historic district in Istanbul. I had a memorable time walking the streets with him at night hearing these stories, as well as checking out many great local items from cafes to textile shops he knows and trusts. He also is a great resource for advising on what to see and buy and what to avoid. Oguz is highly recommended for your first introduction to this great city.

Oguz was flexible and wise enough to realize after about 30 minutes that what really made the 3 of us happy was to experience the special and exotic foods that Istanbul had to offer. We especially liked the spice market and thoroughly enjoyed our whirlwind 4 hour tour! Oguz even knew how to take a photograph of the Blue Mosque which made me look thin! Can't recommend him highly enough!

Our guide orguz was fantastic, very flexible, great suggestions and mindful that my husband has parkinsons and needed to take breaks. On our stops we had nice interactions with locals. We especially enjoyed the asian side spice and veggie market. This was our third trip to istanbul, and we went off the beaten path to get more local flavor on this tour. Very good guide, friendly and informative.
We've got what we expected and even more. Bright, well educated man with nice maners, good sense of humour and of course, he knows what to show and tell about the city. Me and my husband are fully satisfied and will definately choose this guide if we need such a service in the future.
Oguz was a charming and interesting guide but this was a VERY expensive tour by Istanbul standards and not value for money. The last hour of the tour was taken up with him taking us to a turkish carpet salesman, obviously in the hope we would buy a rug and he could pocket the commission. I object to paying somebody to try and sell me something. There were many things about Istanbul I would have liked to see rather than a Persian Carpet warehouse.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated. As you know it was your! choice to visit the merchant we went to at the end of the tour, however I realize that the experience could have been managed in a better way by myself at the time and in the future. I will learn from this to ensure proper expectations are set with travelers when visiting such establishments
TOURSBYLOCALS RESPONSE: We were sorry to see this traveler's experience was not better managed. Travelers should be aware that such merchants employ aggressive sales techniques and that guides typically receive a commission on sales. We have asked Oguz to fully disclose this information to his future travelers as well as carefully monitoring their comfort level throughout any shopping experience. We have issued this traveler a partial refund and have adopted a zero-tolerance approach on the mismanagement of shopping experiences.

Highly Recommended. Oguz was a great guide. We were sailing on Holland America. The ship was unable to dock at its berth on time. So she anchored in the bay and tendered us to a different place. Oguz was able to find us and he was on time! WE are amateur photographers. Oguz was able to take us to places for great images. We were able to capture some wonderful nighttime views of the mosques. Oguz did a great job of tailoring the trip to our needs. And we did it at a nice pace. June Reynolds

This was a really lovely tour, especially because I visited locations at a time of day when I would not otherwise have been sightseeing. Great guide, and a great concept!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Kathleen was also on walking tour, but we avoided the street cars around rush hour time, took taxi. Walked only at the right dose. Kathleen you are a great traveler, you have great taste, I am sorry you could not stay longer this time, but I know you will be back. See you again!

Ogus took us through the Hagia Sophia, at our request; something we didn't want to miss. He was very knowledgeable and made it most interesting. The restaurant, at the top of a hotel, gave us a great view of Istanbul, as evening fell, and the cheese plate and wine was really very good. Only complaint was Oguz seem rather distracted, spending a great deal of time on his cell phone. Our experience on the street car was very stressful; he could have made it a lot better with a little more information.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: How can the guide make the tour the most interesting yet spend great deal on the phone? They were busy cheese wine , and chat. ( I was not invited, dined elsewhere, came back, for the end ) I respect privacy, but I also showed my respect by participating the conversation. And waited the dinner to finish,I checked my emails towards the end. Street cars at rush hour a ,not fun, doesn't get better with more details: Info for street car is limited like "please get in, this is our stop let's get out" :)

I wanted to see Istanbul but not just the places tourists go. The evening tour was an excellent way to see a vibrant city in a different "light", to go to places I would not likely go by myself, and to stretch my legs after a long flight. Oguz was flexible to meet the group's needs, and made sure we had fun. I would recommend this tour to those who want to see something different.
I was extremely pleased with the tour that I had with Oguz, organised by me at very short notice. I had already been to Istanbul a few times before, so wanted some "insider tips" and Oguz took my wishes on board and showed me some great cafés, bars, restaurants etc that I will definitely check out the next time I am in town. Very satisfied.

We spent 2 and a half days in the company of Oguz as he introduced us to the history, the mores, and the culture of ancient, Ottoman, and current-day Turkey. What a delightful guide he was! If you have ANY time to spend in Istanbul, you will be enchanted and enriched by his the views and revelations of this wonderful guide. We cannot recommend him more highly.
