He took us on many back streets that we never would have found ourselves and gave insightful commentary of each location we visited. He was also very gentle and kind, with a lovely sense of humour.

Ken S was our guide in Kyoto on October 27-29. We give him 5 stars. Ken was very knowledgeable and very considerate. One person in our party had some disability and Ken was especially sensitive to his needs, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the sites Ken took us to. He taught us how to use the subways and trains. His English was good. He spent a lot of time with us. We highly recommend him.

Ken arrived early at our hotel and showed all our must see places to see in Kyoto. He truly impressed us with his knowledge of Kyoto’s history knowledge of the historical sites. Ken took care of our well being on the extreme hot days. He helped us at the pharmacy to get the medicine. Ken took us to restaurants (true hidden gems) and introduced us to traditional Japanese cuisine that we thoroughly enjoyed. We will certainly request Ken San’s services to be our personal tour guide if we visit again.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi Raj, Thanks for your five stars. I also enjoyed your company. Hope you will bring great memory back home. Best, Ken S.

This was the second day of our tour of Kyoto with Ken. He continued to be very informative of the history of all the places we visited. He was flexible in the schedule - when one of the tour members asked to visit the Catholic Church, he complied with the request. He went over his duty as a tour guide by helping us purchase our bullet train tickets to Tokyo. We had a hard time buying our tickets the first time in Narita because of language barrier. Thanks Ken for being so helpful and patient with us.
Great Tour with an excellent guide. Ken was extremely knowledgeable and made the trip really interesting. We travelled with 5 teenagers and they all loved the day trip with Ken. We got to see some amazing scenery, wonderful temples and learned so much about Kyoto's history. Travelled on multiple trains to get to various places efficiently with no time wasted, thanks to Ken.Highly recommend.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi Sirisha, Thanks for your five stars. I have enjoyed your company too. Hope you would keep great memory about Kyoto and be back here soon. -Ken S.

We were privileged to have Ken as our guide. His obvious pride and love of his city provided a marvellous and illuminating introduction. This was evident in his deep knowledge of Kyoto's remarkable history, and the care he took in explaining the complex inter-relationships between all the players. He was also kind and patient with all our questions. We would unreservedly recommend this gentleman to any traveller who seeks to truly understand the heart of this beautiful city.

This was my second day tour with Ken S. who was again very excellent in guiding and informing me along the way to the many sites. This was a much quieter day when we went to Keage Station where the hydropower plant was constructed and from there to Nanzenji Temple, which was peaceful and where Ken showed me how a tea ceremony was done. The places where we've had lunch were excellent choices--each different. Today we went to a very famous noodle restaurant. I had another excellent day with Ken.

Ken is very well organised, keeps time and knows Kyoto inside out. He is your guide if you want to avoid typical tourist spots. He is a quick walker and will help improve your fitness level. He is however very considerate and makes sure that the group stays together. We had strict vegetarian meal requirements and he found us some great Veg restaurants serving amazing authentic Japanese meals outside the main Kyoto city.

Ken was a very calm, knowledgable and thoughtful guide. He was able to shape the tour to cater for what we had already seen, and managed a miserable rainy day and still provided a fascinating and wonderful tour for us. There were only two of us, which meant we got a personal tour with a vast amount of information on japanese culture, history, gardens, plants and just about everything!!

Ken gave us a very good overview of the highlights of Kyoto. He was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. We paid extra to have a driver and van, rather than using public transportation, and it was well worth it since we had to be picked up and returned to Kobe, an hour away. We would recommend Ken to anyone wanting to tour Kyoto. He knows the city well.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi David, Thanks for your five stars. Hope you will bring great memories back home. -Ken S.

Ken is highly professional and knowledgeable about Kyoto. His 15 years of work experience in the U.S. make him fluent in English, and he understands the preferences of Westerners. He is energetic and helpful. Ken guided us first through Eastern Kyoto, then through Western Kyoto, and we liked his suggested mixture of sites, walking, and use of public transportation. He also advised on what to do on our own, both in the evening and on our free day in Kyoto.

The 2nd day of tours with Ken took us to the Fushimi Inari shrine. As it was raining, Ken masterfully changed up the itinerary so that we spent some time indoors. We toured the Nishiki market and had lunch in the area. The sun came out and we went to the Imperial Palace, Philosopher's path on our way to the Silver pavilion. Along the way, he took us to key Shrines and temples in Kyoto. We had a great time with Ken and highly recommend him to anyone wanting to see Kyoto from a local's perspective.

We booked Ken for two days - East Kyoto and West Kyoto. Ken was great to be with. He was very informative and fun to be with. Great sense of humor, and made the two days very enjoyable, in spite of the 90 degree heat and humidity. Also he helped us with our tickets and got us on the right track for our departure to Tokyo.

Ken is attentive, informative and an overall great travel guide. We had him two days in Kyoto, which saved us the time, effort and money - figuring out logistics and making our two-day tour amazing. He worked with our pace, and was entertaining with his historical knowledge and humor. He gave us inside tips for the remainder of our visit. In short, if you want a guide that cares, and is proud of his city (which he grew up in), choose Ken.
