Koyasan is an intricate, complicated cultural, historical and religious entity, with a richness which requires deep interpretation and study. I was very fortunate to a spend a short time gaining insights into and learning the stories of Koyasan from Ms. Kaori. She served as an excellent teacher on historical and current Buddhist practices and the relationship between Shinto and Buddhism. Her engaging personality and focus took the chill from the cold, driving rain of that day on the mountain.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you for your comment. It sure wasn't a nice day for walking around. However, it is said Kobo Daishi was there with you in rainy days. Please come back any time in different season and next time, I'll try to book the sun for you.
Kaori-san is an enthusiastic tour guide and full of knowledge. She was very flexible in helping us to design a tour to match our interests. Would highly recommend!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you for your warm comment. I also enjoyed a lot with JOSHIKAI, women's gathering. How were your kids? Hope they were all fine just missed their mothers!

Kaori was fabulous - her expert local knowledge gave us the inside edge on how to still get to Koyasan despite the "dire" warnings from the overly cautious railway staff (there was a railway service snafu). Once there, you could tell that she was well liked by people who work there, and she was so diligent in respecting the history and dignity of Koyasan. This is more than a tourist site for her, she has a personal connection and love for the place. Definitely lucky we experienced it with her.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you, Veronica. It's my great pleasure to show you my favorite place, almost home to you and happy to hear you felt the same!
The tour with Kaori made a huge difference in how we experienced The beauty of Koyasan. Two families with 4 teenagers, she managed to keep us entertained. By noon we were running a bit behind schedule but she arranged a local bus for us, so we wouldn't miss the last part of the tour. She is very knowledgeable and her English is excellent.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you for your kind message. I'm terribly sorry that it took a half year to respond. I'm so happy to hear that you could enjoy Koyasan. Now Koyasan is totally covered with snow and it looked completely different from what you saw. I hope your family will come back here sometime in different season to see cherry blossoms, autumn leaves or winter snow. Kaori

We had a fabulous day with Kaori. Se was knowledgeable friendly answered our question flexible and helped with travel arrangements. Her English was excellent. She made our day in Mt Koya and I highly recommend the tour and Kaori.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much for your considerate comment. I hope you enjoyed the nice walk in perfect pleasant weather at Kumano Kodo and moved to Ise. All in all I hope you enjoyed Japan a lot. Kaori
The only way to see a graveyard !!. So much information that we would never have known about had we tried to go by ourselves. It made it that much more interesting. Just as a pointer - if you are staying in Koyasan, 1 night is plenty. You can see everything you need in 1 day.
Kaori-san is a great tour guide. She went through a great length answering all my questions and event bringing us to a place where it is not in the original itinerary. All her explanation is very detail which makes the tour very informative and fun.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you, Nadiah. Hope you and your family got too tired. Enjoy Tokyo!

Kaori was the best guide we had during our 3 weeks in Japan, You can see that she loves her work. She is full of knowledge - which she is eager to share. We did not finish all the sites on the 1st day since we started late. Kaori volunteer to come the next morning before her regular group and spend another hour and a half with us to make sure we cover all the important sites. Don't miss Koyasan on your trip to Japan and don't miss booking Kaori as your guide.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Dear David, Thank you for your compliment and I'm so happy to hear you had a great time in Koyasan. Koyasan is celebrating its 1200th anniversary from its foundation in this April and May. A lot of monks, priests, pilgrims, worshipers and tourists are expected to come and lodging temples and restaurants are fully booked. I'll be busier but maybe miss some quiet Koyasan. Kaori

With so much to see at Koyasan, I highly recommend Kaori as a guide. From start to finish, she shared her deep knowledge of the sites and their context and history. Without her, we would have missed so much of the treasure of history and culture that she was able to share with us.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Linda, Thank you for your compliment! Your words always encourage me and would like all the visitors in Japan especially Koyasan like Koyasan and feel relaxed here in Koyasan. I'm looking forward to meeting you sometime before long. Kaori

It was very good & educating tour. Mrs. Kaori has demonstrated us deep knowledge of Koyasan & overall the history & culture of Japan. She also made a step forward to work around few matters we had prior booking the tour. Thank you very much Kaori & best of luck. Boris & Wan (Tour on March 7th, 2014)
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you for your comment and rating which encourage me to work as even a better guide. Hope you and Wan come back to Koyasan sometime and your friends are always welcome to my tour!

Kaori was a wonderful guide. She is very knowledgeable about the Koyasan area and its history. In particular, we enjoyed the tour of the cemetery with her - she showed the historical markers and the contemporary memorials by the large corporations in Japan, both were interesting. She answered all of our questions thoroughly, showing her depth of knowledge and experience. She also was very considerate of us. The only disappointment was that the day wasn't longer. Thanks, Kaori! Paula Hanson
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you, Paula. It was really a cold day and felt guilty for the weather. Koyasan can be enjoyed any time of the year differently and winter gives more serene atmosphere in snow while in summer you can enjoy the cool breeze. Anyway, please come back again away from your bustling city life. Of course, please be ready for the cold weather.
