I have traveled and toured all over the world for many years and never have I had a more fascinating tour by such a competent and interesting guide. I highly recommend John's customized tours as my experience was expertly customized for my specific interests. John is very knowledgeable of the southern United States; however his own worldly travels and business relationships add much flavor and context to his tours, especially for the international traveler.

We enjoyed the trip and learned many things we had no idea about that happened in Memphis. He picked up and returned us to the airport in time. John found many interesting places to eat. His grasp of Memphis history is amazing. If you want a customized tour that is not just about the usual tourist spots, plan to have him as guide.

We had a most enjoyable day with John, full of history, knowledge and facts. Memphis has a long history which we knew nothing about, he even brought me a branch of cotton. The day was busy walking, driving and having lunch at a soul food restaurant, the owner kissed our heads as she delivered the food. Afternoon ended with a visit to the secrete grotto, an amazing place. John was courteous, did not talk excessively, gave some quiet time and we thoroughly enjoyed him and the day.

This tour lived up to it's billing as we visited locations that we would never have even considered going to assuming that we knew they existed in the first place! John is a historian and story-teller and paints and extraordinary picture of what is already an extraordinary city. John is professional, informative ,entertaining and fun to be with. He was also extremely helpful suggesting places in the Mississippi Delta for us to visit prior to our arrival in Memphis advice which was very much appreciated

As first time visitors to Memphis, having John as our very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide made this historic city come alive. We walked around the central parts of Memphis, checked out the Peabody Ducks, and heard the stories about many buildings, bridges, streets, and alleys. Later, by car, we went to a down home, and colorful restaurant for a soul food lunch, and a couple of other secret spots only a local would know. John is a swell guide and the highlight of our trip to Memphis.

We, my wife, daughter and I, had a most enjoyable and informative day with John. Though the weather was cool and damp, it added to the ambiance of the physical tour and the personal interaction. From the moment of our introduction, it was as if we were encountering an old friend. By the end of the day, we felt that we certainly had made a new one. His passion for and knowledge of this area of the country is extensive and his presentation is amiable yet professional. Our expectations were exceeded.

We asked John to help us plan a trip from Memphis to New Orleans. He enthusiastically took on the challenge, came up with wonderful creative ideas that showed he understood what we were looking for - even threw in a half day tour of lesser known sights in Memphis. We visited Shiloh and Vicksburg, drove through the Delta Blues trail, poured whiskey on Robert Johnson's grave and ended with an evening of Zeideco. He was very sensitive to our medical issues, chose great restaurants and hotels. great fun!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Steve and Laura are great travel companions. Any TbL guide should sign this couple up whenever possible. They have an open-ended invitation to Memphis.

We spent two days with John and had the best time. John is a seasoned, entertaining guide and even a better person. He kindly customized this tour for our special needs. We highly recommend the Antebellum tour - the homes are impressive and the stories are classic and fun. Consider John's Shiloh tour for even more insight into that era. For Memphis' hidden gems tour, make sure John shows you the Crystal Grotto and Ornamental Metal Museum. Thanks, John!

We have being using TBL for many years, and our tours with John were two of our favorites. When you join John on this tour make sure he takes you to Memphis' hidden gems, like Crystal Grotto and Ornamental Metal Museum. We took the Antebellum tour also, which we highly recommend especially for the classic stories. Thanks, John!
