5+locations significant to the author and her famous heroine
L. M. Montgomery is Canada's most read author. Her first novel, "Anne of Green Gables" was published in 1908 and has never been out of print. This is a journey through many important places in Montgomery's life including her birthplace, her Campbell cousin's home where she spent many happy days and was married in 1911, the Montgomery family PEI homestead, the landscapes and seascape vistas she loved, the site of Montgomery's Cavendish home and, of course, Green Gables National Historic Site, the setting upon which the fictional Cuthbert home, Green Gables House, is based. You will learn about historic Charlottetown, some of PEI's past and more and more beautiful PEI sights.
A stop for lunch can also be arranged at one of our local restaurants.
We begin with a driving tour of historic Charlottetown and discuss the early development of Prince Edward Island from British colony to Canadian Province. Our drive to the north shore is filled with beautiful communities with well-kept homes and farms. Our first stop is the charming, tiny home where L. M. Montgomery was born in 1874. Next is Park Corner, where the Montgomery family has lived for more than 200 years. Here, there is the Montgomery homestead property, (Ingleside, exterior only) and the Anne of Green Gables Museum, the homestead of the Campbell family (Montgomery's cousins, called Silverbush) and the Lake of Shining Waters in her writings. From here we stop for photos in French River. Next is the optional lunch stop at Carr's Restaurant. Then we arrive in Cavendish to see the unique combination of red cliffs and white sand of Cavendish shore. Finally, the site of Montgomery's Cavendish Home and the Green Gables House National Historic Site. The return to Charlottetown is filled with more sights.

We cannot say enough about Kevin! As a lifelong resident of Prince Edward Island, he spoke fondly of what it is like to live there, and we got a keen sense of the culture of the place, as well as its exquisite scenery. We absolutely loved our day with him, and highly recommend him to other travelers. What a great guy!
