Best of UNESCO Rhine Valley in winter (off season). Customizable private tour.

The 65km-stretch of the Middle Rhine Valley, with its castles, historic towns and vineyards, graphically illustrates the long history of human involvement with a dramatic and varied natural landscape. It is intimately associated with history and legend and for centuries has exercised a powerful influence on writers, artists and composers.

On this "Winter Edition" tour we visit Marksburg Castle and Fortress:
- It is one of the principal sites of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was used for protection rather than as a residence for royal families. It has a striking example of a bergfried designed as a butter-churn tower. Of the 40 hill castles between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz the Marksburg was the only one which was never destroyed.

and then we explore by car the multitude of quaint Medieval villages along the Rhine on our way back.

Last but not least we make stops to enjoy some of the best Rieslings in the world (wine-tasting) at leading winemakers of the region.

A Recent Review of this tour

We had an absolutely perfect day with Stan! He is an intelligent, delightful and thoughtful guide. Our first stop was a wonderful castle in the Rhineland and the views of the Rhine and surrounding areas were amazing! We took the fairy across the Rhine to have lunch in a quaint village and Stan made recommendations to us on local cuisine. The afternoon exceeded all expectations with stops for three wine tastings. Each stop was was SO unique and fun! Stan is a wealth of knowledge on history and wine!
